Episode 26: The dangers when authorities and media call all migrant arrests “rescues”

Most migrants “rescued” by authorities are in fact detained, imprisoned, and deported. When authorities and the media use the term “rescued” they are distorting reality and impacting migrant rights. Migrants, on the other hand, are calling for the creation of a humanitarian corredor, so they can travel to the US without being in danger.

She has been a journalist for two decades. During the last 13 years she has worked as a journalist and editor from Venezuela and Ecuador, and now from Mexico. She is the author of a literary fiction novel, The Butterfly Prison, and a children’s book, The Beauty Rules of Flowertown.
